Right-of-withdrawal form for private customers 19.05.2026

For operators, end customers

With § 356a BGB, a new German law taking effect in mid-June 2026, providers of distance and off-premises contracts are required to make withdrawal just as easy to access as concluding the contract itself. Until now, that meant for many providers: link an e-mail address somewhere in the imprint, hunt for withdrawal messages in the inbox, manually confirm each one. With the new Right of Withdrawal feature in Bookacamp you get a ready-made, multi-tenant form instead — embeddable in your website with a single link.

How the consumer files the withdrawal

Once you activate the form in your account, the integration menu in your backoffice shows a public link that you embed in your footer, in your imprint or on a dedicated withdrawal page. Consumers landing there see a short explanatory text, three mandatory fields — full name, e-mail address and a reference number — and one optional field for the reason. That's all they need to do.

Reference number? Means: anything that identifies the transaction

We deliberately don't call it "booking number", because a withdrawal can refer to very different kinds of transactions: booking numbers from your camp business, group numbers for class trips, customer numbers, insurance policy numbers, the identifier of a shop purchase, voucher codes or any other reference you use internally to find the transaction again. The form accepts the free text exactly as the consumer enters it — you do the mapping later.

Instant acknowledgement, audit-grade record

As soon as the form is submitted, Bookacamp sends an acknowledgement to the e-mail address provided in the form and to your account e-mail. The acknowledgement contains all of the consumer's input verbatim, so both sides have the same view of the case. In parallel, the withdrawal lands as a transaction in your system — under its own type legal-withdrawal, so you can filter and report on it later.

Printable summary for the consumer

After submission, the consumer immediately sees a summary of everything they entered — with a button to print the page. Anyone who wants a paper record for their own files has one without waiting for an e-mail.

Activated in the account settings, linked in the integration menu

You'll find the feature under General account settings > Legal. One toggle is enough to switch the withdrawal form on; optionally you can configure your own intro text in German and English. As soon as the feature is active, a new entry appears in the Integration menu in the top bar pointing directly to the public page — ready to be linked or shown in your browser.

What we deliberately don't do

Bookacamp does not automatically cancel bookings or process withdrawals. The legal assessment of each individual case — deadline check, applicable regime (distance contract under §§ 312g, 355 BGB, § 356a BGB or package-travel law under § 651h BGB), follow-up steps such as refunds, cancellation invoices or vouchers — stays with you. We only take care of the low-barrier intake channel and the clean record. We also cannot judge whether a right of withdrawal applies to your specific business at all; if in doubt, that's a question for your lawyer.
